The 1000 Jobs for Chicagoland Manufacturing Campaign has raised more than $1 million to put Chicago residents on the path to manufacturing careers. As a public-private partnership, our initiative advances the city’s economic growth plan through the 1,000 Jobs for Chicagoland Manufacturing campaign.
Who are we?
Our campaign is based on the simple premise that Chicagoans are ready to work, and Chicago manufacturers are ready to hire. We connect talented local residents with opportunities in one of the region’s most dynamic sectors.
Chicago is one of a few global cities working to change the image of manufacturing. The industry has evolved far beyond traditional blue-collar work on assembly lines. Despite the manufacturing industry’s strength, we recognize the need to address recent downward trends in employment and skills gaps created by automation, technology, and an aging workforce. Our campaign focuses on:
- Increasing awareness of manufacturing career opportunities
- Building capacity within the workforce development ecosystem
- Improving coordination between employers, training providers, and job seekers
